Large Family Home

 

Designed by BBE architects ( Now GreenHAUS architects ltd). This 340sqm family home was built on a fixed price contract. We also had input in the design process and final drafting. Built to a high standard with quality materials and finishes. This was a build where we worked closely with the clients who put a lot of their own creativity and work into their house during the building process.

Features:

  • Concrete slab foundation over cupolex pods. Exterior edge of slab insulated.

  • Finished floors consist of polished concrete, clay, tile and timber.

  • Lower storey walls are strawbale with clay and lime plasters.

  • House set partly into hill behind, with block retaining walls.

  • Upper story 140mm timber frame with Macrocarpa weatherboards.

  • Internal gib walls plastered with lime and clay.

  • Tadelakt lime finish in bathroom and toilet.

  • European style tilt and turn joinery.

  • Living green roof on upper storey.

  • Skillion roof areas vented at soffit and ridge.

  • Heat recovery ventilation system.

  • Winding staircase from NZ grown eucalyptus.

  • Solid timber internal doors with timber latches.

  • Extensive use of locally grown and milled alternative species timber.

  • Interior air and vapour control membranes with good blower door test result.

  • Passive house design features.

  • Off grid electrical system. Hot water from solar and wetback.

  • Worm based flushing wastewater system.
