Our first foray into natural building
This house was built for Pats parents in-law. The first project we worked on together
Features:

Concrete ring foundation with suspended timber floor.

Strawbales on edge and direct plastered with clay and lime.

The exposed south wall clad with ply over the straw for extra weather protection.

Clay sourced on site

Timber staircase built with salvaged Oregan timber.

Internal walls lined with Gib or carpet and plastered with clay.

Recycled Timber Windows and doors.
-
Extensive use of locally milled finishing timber.
-
Worm based flushing wastewater system.
-
Vented skillion roof, with soffit and ridge vents.
